1. Who we are
Williams Solar Supplies & Installations ("Williams Solar", "we", "us") is the responsible party for personal information collected through this website and through enquiries made to us by WhatsApp, email or telephone.
Williams Solar Supplies & Installations
71 B Platan Ave, Flamwood, Klerksdorp, 2571
Office: 087 148 4445
Email: sales@rwelectrical.co.za
Information Officer: Robbie Williams (Owner). Questions or requests about your personal information can be sent to him using the details above, marked "POPIA request".
2. What personal information we collect
We only collect information you choose to give us when you make an enquiry. This may include:
- Your name and surname
- Your phone number and/or email address
- Your town or area, and property type (home or business)
- Details of the solar service or product you are enquiring about, and any message you include
- Any further information you share with us while we discuss or carry out a quote or installation, such as an installation address
This website does not have user accounts, does not take payments and does not store your enquiry on our own servers.
3. How our enquiry form works
The enquiry form does not submit your details to a database. When you press "Send via WhatsApp" or "Send via email", the form prepares a message and opens WhatsApp or your email app on your own device. Nothing is sent until you press send yourself.
While you fill it in, the form saves a draft in your browser's local storage on your device, so you do not lose your details if you leave the page. We cannot see this draft. You can clear it at any time with the "clear form" button or by clearing your browser data. See our Cookie Policy.
4. Why we use your information
We process your personal information only for these purposes:
- To respond to your enquiry and contact you about it
- To prepare a quote and discuss solar equipment or installation options
- To carry out, follow up on and support work you have asked us to do
- To keep records required by law, such as tax and accounting records
We do not sell your personal information and we do not use it to send you marketing unless you have agreed to receive it. You can withdraw that consent at any time.
5. Lawful basis
Under section 11 of POPIA, we process your information because you have consented by contacting us, because it is needed to take steps towards or perform a contract with you (such as a quote or installation), because we must comply with a legal obligation, or because it is in our legitimate interest to respond to and manage customer enquiries.
6. Who we share it with
We only share your information where needed to help you, for example:
- Messaging and email providers that carry your message to us, such as WhatsApp (Meta) and our email provider
- Suppliers or installers working with us on your project, only as far as needed for that project
- Professional advisers, auditors or authorities where the law requires it
WhatsApp and some email or website service providers may process information outside South Africa. Where this happens, we rely on those providers being subject to laws, rules or agreements that give a level of protection comparable to POPIA, as required by section 72.
7. How long we keep it
We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purpose it was collected for, or as long as the law requires (for example, financial records). When no longer needed, it is deleted or de-identified.
8. How we protect it
We take reasonable technical and organisational steps to protect your information against loss, misuse and unauthorised access, and limit access to people who need it to help you. If we believe your information has been accessed without authorisation, we will notify you and the Information Regulator as required by section 22 of POPIA.
9. Your rights
Under POPIA you have the right to:
- Ask whether we hold personal information about you, and request a copy of it
- Ask us to correct or update information that is inaccurate or incomplete
- Ask us to delete or destroy information we are no longer allowed to keep
- Object to us processing your information, including for direct marketing
- Withdraw your consent at any time (this does not affect processing that already took place)
- Lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator
To make a request, contact us using the details in section 1. We may need to confirm your identity first.
10. Information Regulator
If you are not satisfied with how we handled your personal information, you may complain to the Information Regulator (South Africa):
- Website: inforegulator.org.za
- Complaints: POPIAComplaints@inforegulator.org.za
11. Children
Our services are aimed at adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18.
12. Links to other sites
This website links to WhatsApp, Facebook and Google Maps. Those services have their own privacy policies, and we are not responsible for how they handle your information.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always be on this page, with the date it was last updated.
